Thermon: the Prehistoric Settlement
The elliptical buildings
|
The elliptical shape of some of the prehistoric buildings at Thermon has few parallels. They appear to be contemporary with other rectangular ones (α1-3). The destruction level found within the buildings contained large numbers of whole pottery vessels including Mycenaean of LH IIA style dating to the 16th century BC, local hand made wares and pottery in the Middle Helladic tradition. |

Partly covered by the Archaic temple, little remains to date this building but its long apsidal shape should relate it to the architectural techniques of the Middle Helladic period in Southern Greece |
