Thermon: the Prehistoric Settlement: Mycenaean Pottery
Just as in the 16th Century, imported pottery of high quality was still reaching Thermon in the 12th Century. These fragments belong to the same type of vase as the famous Warrior Vase from Mycenae and are by the same painter as a krater recently discovered at Voudeni near Patras. Fragments of Mycenaean kraters are unexpectedly common during the 13th and 12th Centuries and suggest that this part of the prehistoric site at Thermon was already the location of specialised, possibly even ritual activity. Similar observations on the frequency of kraters in the peripheral regions of the Mycenaean world have already been noted in Macedonia.
